For Your Information:Running the BigBlueButton or WebRTC applications requires UDP ports to be available as well as Server’s IP should be able to establish connection with the Client’s IP , but if users are behind strict firewall or using VPN services , Proxy services etc , WebRTC app can’t communicate directly with the User’s IP

1. TURN server also works as STUN server , so you don’t need to use free STUN server from Google anymore.
2. An external TURN connection solves the audio connection issues in WebRTC applications like BigBlueButton.
3. BigBlueButton Error 1002 , 1004 , 1007 usually solved by configuring BBB Server with TURN Credentials .
4. When you configure external TURN with BigBlueButton, all users traffic won’t be relayed with TURN.
5. Normally 10-20 % users requires TURN to establish connection successfully. For these only traffic will be relayed.

If your End-users are from Government Offices , Institution Campus or using VPN services , Proxy services etc. you must need to have TURN

CPU resource, Faster Response time , Minimum latency are the key requirement for TURN infrastructure. RAM & Disk space are less important.
A VPS or Dedicated server with minimum 2 vCore & 2 GB RAM.
(Decent for up to 10-20 % TURN usage if you have around 100 Total concurrent users.)

Domain, Server’s IPv4 &  IPv6 needs to be mapped with A & AAAA records.

Root or Sudo access via SSH protocol. (Password can be sent or Public key can be requested to allow key based SSH Access)
Virtual Machine or Instances with NAT gateway from AWS, Azure, GCP is not recommended for the TURN Server.
A fully qualified domain or subdomain for the TURN server.

TURN server is known for higher Outbound Data Transfer, so we recommend Digital Ocean.
